SlowToady - great question and very difficult to answer. Many varibles come into play that influence oil longevity. The first case study we did was on a bunch of escavators at Nucor Steel that run 24/7. They were using Mobil 1 and changing every 300hrs. Imagine, using Mobil 1 synthetic in a escavator! Those beasts run twin turbos and nasty fuel and they don't stop. They sample every 50 hours - 300hrs is the best they ever got. We came in and made a pitch, they bit, gave us half to test on and we went 1200+ according to oil analysis. During the study they ycouldn't believe it - they even sent out duel samples to another independent lab and got the same confirmation. They throttled back to changing a bit over 1000hrs. The savings on downtime and oil savings was worth thousands - our oil is prices about the same as the Mobil product. They have reduce rebuilds dramtically as well.
Just got done with another case study last month on an EMT unit that used our oil in 40 of their 145 ambulances. Some of those units idle all day long - bad for oil because the EGR recycles exhaust at 80% during idle. We were able to outlast Castrol's oil by 4 fold.
What weight are you running in you 44?
