I did it. It surely was adjustable for cold pressure. It's just that my heating element was shot and it always ran poorly in the warm up phase until I got a wur from Pelican (superceded from original PN). I think the engine eventually warmed up the bimetallic heating element after about 8 min.
I think you break the heating element when you "whack on the plunger". The green insulation paint was cracked and chipped when I took the old one apart.
If there are aftermarket heating elements then I would have a spare.
If I had to go back in time- Buy a new one!
