I lived in Garland and Wylie (near Plano) until I was 11 and go back to visit every few years. Weather can be nuts. Crazy hail storms, tornadoes and an occasional ice storm. High school football is a religion in those parts. My old town Wylie had 2500 people when I lived there. It also had nine churches, no stop lights and no bars. Now it's a different world. The burbs have some character, but traffic has gotten terrible. Cost of living is much more reasonable than on the east coast. I'd seriously consider miving there if the right offer came along. But I want to move further west toward the desert.
