If you are working in downtown St. Paul I would advise *not* looking to the South in the Eagan, Burnsville areas (they are nice but)...find a map...anywhere that takes you up 35E into downtown is a hideous traffic jam of a commute somtimes starting as far south as 494...gets worse in the winter...that whole stretch of freeway South out of downtown is 2 lanes and 45 mph
Maplewood, Woodbury, Oakdale all pretty nice but expensive taxes in Washington County...maybe Roseville would be a good start...you can sneak South on Snelling Ave and cut East into downtown on 94. Got a price cap on the house?
There are some nice houses in St. Paul but it seems the upkeep varies block to block and they usually are no deal...
