EGT gauge install... "PT" thread?

I've got my Jetta torn apart as I wait to put in my new/used (larger) turbo. I, err, overcooked the old one... so this time around I'm putting in an EGT gauge pre-turbo.

So, I've ordered the EGT gauge but I need to put the car back together before it arrives. I want to drill & tap the fitting for the sender while I have the exhaust manifold off, then just put in a plug until the gauge & sender arrive.

I've been trying to find out the fitting type that the sender uses. After about 6 REALLY frustrating emails with the fleabay vendor who sold me the gauge kit, he finally called me after being threatened with bad feedback. Quite a language barrier. He says the fitting is 1/8" PT. I asked him if he meant NPT... he said "no, PT".

I've been scouring my books and looking for info online... but I can't find if NPT and PT are the same. Anyone know?
