There are a lot of other quirks about Coburn that this article did not mention. He has been in trouble with the Senate Ethics Comm. because he refuses to close down his OB/GYN practice, which was allowed when he was a House member, but the Senate doesn't allow it. He goes home on weekends and sees patients and the Ethics Comm. is all up in arms because he has contact with real Americans and might actually have a clue about health issues. He also hosts lunch lecture, complete with slide show, on STD's for Hill staffers. He pays for the food with his own money and the event is always packed. Somehow, I think Coburn is just too good for us. We deserve far worse.
