for grime ( = greasey, non-polar crud) use a solvent tank

for polar type stuff ('dirt') use a strong detergent

I wouldn't soak anything in S Green or Castrol Purple (which removes paint BTW) spray it on scrub and rinse off w/o waiting very long. See how things look.

Think about soda blasting or plastic beads for a real new look.

Hot water and elbow grease are like magic.
