I'd look for some small local sprint tracks for the kids to race on. The main clubs are IKF and WKA. Their first year or so the equipment won't matter if it's halfway reliable. Talk to the locals and see what's working. If they really enjoy it I recommend buying something new so it's competetive and not a pain to maintain.

I can't seem to get my kid interested, I guess I'll have to twist his arm a little.

I haven't raced since the IKF road race nationals last year, but I just bought a new kart. Hopefully the 930 will be done soon and I can get back into karting.

I roadrace so I'm not really up on sprint karts, but shoot me a PM anytime if you have a question.

Brakes are the worst part about karts except for blowing engines. I've bored out the calipers and machined new pistons to fit, but the easiest thing is to buy new calipers. You could try cleaning the bores with some 600 grit paper and WD40. You may get some new seals to work with the old pistons.
