Wow, Craig, I wouldn't know where to start. Too late now, but personally I would not use the USPS for anything more important than filling my mailbox with unsolicited flyers and credit card apps. To paraphrase the old SNL line, "We are the Post Office. We don't care. We don't have to".
Why not use UPS or Fed Ex? At least it stays with one company, and a competetive, profit-driven one at that. One that has an interest in making their customers happy.
Anyway, good luck on this one. Was it insured?
