Throwing the story on a website or covering it for a couple of brief watered down minutes at the back of a newshour is a far cry from the treatment Cunningham got. Interestingly it appears the crimes of Jefferson far surpass Cunningham's, yet the Jefferson story is muffled and turned down to a whisper...Toricceli was handled similarly.
Culture of corruption indeed, made worse with the media running public relations and defense...When the larger portion of the media promote and defend a political party you start heading down the path Orwell warned us against.
"The media, I think, want Kerry to win. And I think they’re going to portray Kerry and Edwards - I’m talking about the establishment media, not Fox, but - they’re going to portray Kerry and Edwards as being young and dynamic and optimistic and all, there’s going to be this glow about them that some, is going to be worth, collectively, the two of them, that’s going to be worth maybe 15 points.” --
