The "low side" runs from the evaporator outlet to the compressor.
The low side "service fitting" will always be on the low side, meaning either on the pipe from the evaporator oulet to the compressor or on the compressor manifold for the low side hose connection.
The "high side" runs from the compressor. to the condenser, to the drier and then to the expansion valve.
The high side "service fitting" will always be on the high side, which could be near the drier or on the drier to expanionsion valve pipe.... depending upon the year of the car, however it will be on the high side of the system.
