Boston University, after conducting an investigation, concluded that King plagiarised his doctoral thesis (around 47%) and put a note on King's thesis in their archieves saying as much. Interestingly enough, the same doctoral committee that reviewed King's thesis reviewed the thesis he copied from (Jack Boozer) about 3 or 4 years prior. You didn't hear about it when it was discovered in the early 1990s, because the media covered it up, they didn't want to run the story. Wonder why...
I'm not sure about the book you mention, but it is widely known that King slept around quite a bit, and I have heard that he slept with two women in a motel the night before he was killed. Not sure if there was a book on it though.
