I don't know if anyone mentioned it: there are two types of bumperettes for the US impact cars. In 1974, the car was equipped with small bumperettes for that year only. Afterward on up to the 964, all Porsche 911s had the large bumperettes. So, if you want protection, but also weight loss, the small ones from '74 might be the way to go.
I think the '74 bumperettes weigh roughly half of the later (and more plentiful) bumperettes.
