I'll quote this from another board:
Quote:
I'd much rather have an outer skin fall off at speed then:
A rear main seal that is denied coverage because my porsche drove past a track.
A car that has cylinder liners slip off like a slick condom (996)
A car that is made with out seeing whether or not the EGR will basically RUIN the heads. (993)
A car that costs 130k and in 3 years costs 70. Nice. (996TT)
A car that is great, except for being engineer to be slower then its more expensive sibling (cayman)
A car that is the black sheet, red headed step child, DENIED IT EVER EXISTED (all non-356/911)

Did Porsche even issue a recall on the 996 RMS? I really don't know. At least GM is forthright about it, and I'm pretty sure an adhesive change isn't hard to do.
My uncle has a 996 and wants a class-action lawsuit to take place so that he can have Porsche buy the car back and get a GT3 (993 block). Isn't that lovely? Porsche is really,
really lucky that enthusiasts are so devoted.
