Wayne,
The yellow light is much more believable. The closing speed (from the cop’s perspective setting by the roadside) is only 6,200,000 miles per hour.
Ryan, from the speeder’s point of view he is only going 190,000,000 miles per hour. There is about 9% dilation at v = 0.308 c. Good ‘ol (1/(1+v^2/c^2)) = 0.913
If the speeder were driving a red car (no, the F-cars don’t go that fast) the cop would identify it as blue when coming towards him and an invisible heat (1100 nm) trail after he passed. Cool trick.
Who says Resnick & Halliday wasn’t worthwhile. I wish there were an updated and expanded version of Henry and Al in the Quantum Mechanical Universe. I’m jealous of those who had Goodstein or even better, Feynman. And I was even accepted at Cal Tech in '62 - the height of Professor Feynman's teaching.
Best,
Grady
