My brother-in-law once brought some Sam Adams Triple Bock by for us to try. It was supposed to be the ultimate conisiour's beer. I said "Beer? Sure why not?" . Now maybe I'm just too German since I don't like stuff in my beer, and I don't like strange beers, I like -- Beer. It should look like beer (light or dark are OK), smell like beer, and taste like beer. Well in my book Triple-Bock failed on all three. It looked like molassis and smelled and tasted like brandy.
Yeuch!!!
Give me a Sam's Golden Pilsner or a good Weisse Biere to wash the taste of that out of my mouth. Call me un-refined, but Beer in my book isn't supposed to be some over-proof liquour, it's supposed to be Beer!
Rant over...
BTW - I love Cloister Ettaller Liquour (Schnapps? Brandy?), which my wife says tastes like cough syrup. Am I wierd or what?
