I think bringing GM financing into is a bit much. Their financial decisions have not been the best regardless of the economy.

Maybe....but maybe not. Note the ellipse. One of the things that has been talked about on Bloomberg is how higher energy costs have NOT impacted prices paid by consumers on most goods. So if HIGHER oil prices are having no effect on spending, I can't see how LOWER prices would either. Producers are not likely to pass on the energy savings by turning around and immediately lower prices on goods when customers are not shy about buying them at the current price.
Of course, I am talking about goods outside the transport and energy sectors.
