It's sick how much new parents spend on baby stuff. They are on the edge of the unknown and *suckers* for anything that's marekted as "the best" and/or "safest". Second+ time parents know better. Hell my wife spent $500 on crib bedding in 1997 for our first son. Imagine my horror when the matching comforter was never actually in the bed w/son due to potential suffocation...
We sold it in a garage sale to a poor Mexican family for $50 including 3 bags of baby clothes (gap, gymboree, nordstrom)...don't get me started. That $1k is a drop in the bucket of madness.
