You are 7 months from vesting for retirement with your current company.

Your location is being closed and you have your layoff date which falls prior to you vesting.

You have a job offer (accepted) from a competing company to start in six weeks.

Upper management suddenly realizes you were the only one working on a project to save them $4-8M per year and no one else knows the project. They now want to talk to you about staying for many years to come.
