How much should I ask for this?
I’m considering selling my 69 911T coupe and re-investing in a 911 from the early eighties. However, I’m not too sure how much to ask. It’s an unmolested 911T with original motor…all numbers matching. I just had the exterior done last year with pictures documenting the whole process. I was very particular with the color…In fact I was adamant with the painter that the original color code was matched (Polo Red). This car has officially never changed color, only been re-painted. The whole car is immaculate!
The most interesting part of this car is its history. It was purchased originally by doctor out of Muskegon, MI. in 1969 and has been in West Michigan since then. It’s been worked on by the same mechanic ”German Auto Service” out of Grand Rapids since it was imported. In fact he’s still in business and I still bring the car to him…he knows it as the “Doctors” car. The mechanic has electronic service documentation back to the late 80’s. He used to have all the previous hardcopies from the early service dates; however he disposed of it “ouch.” On the other hand, he does recall a lot from memory. For example, the motor was re-built in 1985. At this time he installed guards for timing chain issue that these motors are notorious for. The odometer reads 121,000, but we’re estimating that it has 40,000 (at the most) miles on it since the re-build. I’m the 4th owner. I’ve had conversations with all owners, except the original doctor, and I’m friends with the third owner; so I know the complete history of this vehicle.
I’m curious what other opinions are?
Thanks,
Ken
