I sold my 1980 911SC Targa. I was in my driveway washing the car, getting ready to take pics to put up on craigslist, autotrader, and Pelican of course, when a couple of guys walked by and said "nice cars" I had the '98 Carrera S in the driveway along with my friends 2005 Carrera S. One of the guys mentioned owning an '84 Carrera not too long ago and just had a stereo installed. A few weeks after that he said the car was stolen, never to be found. I told himm the Targa was for sale and he took a quick look and said, he'd like to get it PPI'd over at The Stable with Alan(who I guess is the man in these parts regarding the air cooled P-Cars) in the next couple of days.
The car has 193,XXX miles, some minor dents and scratches, A newly refurbished targa top, came with a new front valance (the one on the car has a dent) and a bunch of receipts that go back to the early '90s. The compression on the stock car was between 190-200 on all cylinders which was strange and I never got around to figuring out, and I had two mechanics say it was the quickest SC they've ever driven that was stock. (dunno bout it but that's what they say)
I had a great time driving it, changing the oils, and learning from all the folks on this board, so I must say thank you, and have two other Porsches which will keep me here on Pelican sinking money into these exciting cars.
The car sold for $9000.00
Here are the final pix.
