Just bought a 911T with E and S upgrades. Did not pay over the top as the clutch is U/S. Fired it up before I bought it, noticed oil dripping onto the N/S heat exchanger. Fine I thought, that'll be the crummy old non turbo rocker covers. Disconnected everything ready for the drop today. Whilst underneath I noticed that it was not coming from the rocker covers but the area of the mating surfaces between the cam carrier and the tops of the heads. My initial reaction was that it was a failure of the sealing at that joint. However I'm wondering now if it is leaking from the ends of the rocker shafts. Despite owning several 911s I've not had this problem before so not quite sure of the symptoms. Question is when those rocker shaft ends leak, does the oil emerge from the area of the cam carrier to head joint and if not what path does it take normally?
Thanks in anticipation.....
