You can drift a 911 but probably not as well as some of the popular drift cars. The rear weight bias helps, but the additional traction due to the rear weight bias hurts.

You missed a step that would have made the answer yes. Back when I had my 911 I tried this 3 times, and
luckily, VERY luckily, it worked every time. go in hot, turn wheel, lift throttle, immediately get back into the throttle, do lurid slide around corner feeling like Moss and looking like a pro as something in the back of your mind reminds you that it could have been ugly.
I think the problem is that in these drift competitions the cars seem to drift through at least 75% of the courses, and keeping a 911 drifting from corner to corner might be hard. I'm guessing that the right driver could probably do it.
