I took online and read some of the more popular training materials in advance of takign my test. Check out pmi.org, they'll usually have some info on training that's offered by local chapters for PMP or CAPM. In order to get either of those certs, you'll need some formal training anyway.

The PMP test has proven extremely difficult for a lot of folks since they revised it last year. BUT, it's all in how you prepare and test - my wife used my old study material and passed the new test on her first try. Are you doing full time PM work or is it fallign under that category of "someones gotta do it or it'll never get done..." That can make a difference in your approach.
