84Porsche, I feel for your family and the Palestinians. I think that very few don't feel for their situation. Unfortunately, there is no easy solution or any temporary solution pending.
I believe that the Palestinians have suffered and continues to suffer from the worst leadership I have ever seen (with the exception of Mahmoud Abbas/Abu Mazen and he is still pretty bad). They have-- NO plan, NO direction, NO end goals. The politicians cannot even agree on what they want in a best case scenario agreement with Israel. This is why peace has no chance and why the Israelis have realized that bargaining with the Palestinian politicians (especially Hamas) is fruitless.
I also personally believe that neither the PLO/PA, Hamas or any other group actually wants peace. Otherwise, the Palestinian people might realize how incompetent their leadership is and oust them out of power as they have no infastructure or economy or any idea as to how remove themselves from the poverty cycle. The Palestinian people continue to get screwed over by their incompetent and bloodthirsty leadership.
Some of my best friends have been Palestinians and they all have been extremely bright, intelligent and friendly individuals. They all want peace, whether it be as part of Israel, two separate states (Israel and Palestine) or some combination thereof. Almost all of my Israeli friends share the same attitude (I lived there for about 6 months in Tel Aviv). However, from what I have seen and read, most Palestinians do not want peace, they want revenge and blood. It is an awful situation involving two great intelligent people.
