Tervuren...I'm impressed. Not many people know that all pressure increasing intake devices are superchargers (by definition) and turbos are just one model of the many available. Superchargers include impellers (class that includes turbos), twin screw type and counter rotating at least that's all the classes I know of. Most think that because it's exhaust driven it's not a supercharger which is incorrect. It seems you have learned your vocabulary very well.

Me, I was sleeping that day and had to be corrected a couple times before I figured it out. The part that still confuses me is the turbocharger definition. According to Webster, it's a Turbine based supercharger (hence the term turbo) driven by exhaust gases. Wouldn't a turbine based supercharger that's shaft driven be a turbo supercharger as well? So, does anyone know what a shaft driven turbine based supercharger is called?
