Hate to rain on yours, but.....
I'm 99% sure the 84 (at least early 84 anyway) came with forged rods. It's been a while since I've looked at my JME ITS organizer (and it's at the shop right now or I'd pull it out), but I'm pretty certain of this info.
Also IIRC (again 99% sure), the 944 came not only with forged and cast rods, but the late versions had sintered rods.
