Yeah Dan, I'm one of those guys who places a bid for the max amount I'm willing to pay for an item on eBay and then just forget about it until I get the "you won" notice in my e-mail.
Sometimes I get great deals, like $31 for a used but serviceable 1-in-1-out muffler for my 911 or $150 for a nice set of Solex single shaft 40-PII carbs for my 912. I do get some satisfaction of out watching a death spiral between snipers on an item where they both bid way too high at the last moment and pay 3x what I bid for the item... poetic justice!
