I've had a few bugs over the years and was looking to get a nice two-tone '67 Ghia. All of the examples I found cost the same, if not more, than nice '66-'67 912's (eight years ago). Most restored '67 bugs are in the $8K plus range too. They're not the $500 last-forever-college-student transportation anymore.
I went with the 912 - superior in every way to any VW of that era. I'm not talking about nostalgia, just pure craftsmanship and everything else that makes a Porsche great.
