"Purity of Essence" Brig. Gen. Jack D Ripper
It was General Ripper in his now famous conversation with RAF Group Captain Lionel Mandrake in the 1960's where he expressed his view that the countrys essence was being corrupted. That a country only survived by keeping its essence pure.
Now you might ask how does this relate to the early 911s . I'll tell you how. It is only us stalwart purists that preserve the integrity of the Porsche marque. We do it by maintaining the orginality of our cars. We don't see the need to Bastardize ieg corrupt the aesthetic appeal of our now classic cars. The early cars had a simple purity of line, and function.
Some people don't seem to realize that less is better, they seem to think that by flaring fenders and hanging whale tails on our beloved eary 911s that they are improving them. They claim to be doing this in the sprit of the early Racing Sport cars. But this is nonsense, they are in reality only "pimping trhem out" by creating these hideous caricatures of the early 911s. What is the limit of their excess, hydralics so that they can bounce their cars as they go by? Further if these people want an over wrought , over blown 911 why don't they just go ahead and purchase one. The advertisment section of the newspaper is full of 1974 and later 911s. This would be preferable to them hacking up a perfectly good early 911 in the name of Racing Sport or should I say Racing Disgrace.
