Here's what I use. A break-barrel .177 caliber
Gamo 1000 Shadow. It's much nicer than the pump style jobs you can buy at WalMart. It's inexpensive ($150 with scope). 1000fps muzzle velocity, very accurate for a field-use pellet gun, good range, and fair knock-down power.
