Yes, but according to the local paper meth labs are in every neighborhood and crime is at an all time high thanks to said meth heads.
The local paper there is selling fear, just in a different form.
I got to talk to one of my new neighbors at the bottom of the mountain. I asked him if he is afraid of crime in NC and he, being from the DC area, said hell no! But, he added that the neighbor across the way from him was warning him about all the meth labs and crime. The neighbor between us has an alarm system in his house. I do not lock my doors there!!
I think your search results came up with the real picture. Its a nice southern town with little to no crime. Its too bad the local paper cannot celebrate that rather than try to scare the hell out of everyone so the local sheriff can get re-elected.
