If you can do your own body work then you might be able to make this car work for you. Of course, it will eat up a lot of your time and in the end you'll have a car that's never going to be as desireable as a clean car that's lead a more pampered life.
Ulitmately it's just a matter of how much you value your time and the experience. You know what they say, "where there's a will there's a way".
