Las year, I was doing a project that required weeks of labor and I visited the intersections in Malibu where the workers hung out. 90% had gotten to Malibu from mid-Los Angeles -- a 2-1/2 hour bus ride. But the prevailing labor rate in Malibu was $1-2 more than in L.A., so it was worth the trip. I also had a 'senior' subcontractor who had his own truck... but in my experience probably only 1 in 30 or so 'undocumented workers' have vehicles here.
