Child Support, Medical Insurance, and Child Care

I do not have any children but I have close friends and family that do and I have always wondered...Why is the father (generally) required to pay not only 20% of his income (after taxes) but also have medical insurace on the kids and pay child care? All the while the "ex" (mother) does not work and lives off of her "ex's" (dad) income. Health insurance alone can run $1,000 a month and childcare is about another $1,000; so if the father is paying $1,000 in child support and $2,000 for health insurance and childcare, then he is really paying out about 50% of his income to his "ex".

It seems that society is trying to "put" the father's out so that they can not survive on their own. I know plenty of men that have to live with their parents because their "ex" is sucking them dry. It is sad especially since some women have figured this out and become pregnant purposely so that they don't have to work for the next 18 years. I always believed that if a women is going to receive child support; she must work an equivalent amount of hours (not to exceed 40 per week) as the father of the child. I don't understand why the mother does not have to have any financially responsibility for her own child.

What do you all think of the child support laws? Are they fair? Are men the victims of a feminist society?
