Ok, ok... I'm sorry to start another dog thread! I was going to post a reply to ROSSINI's thread about dogs, but was afraid it was already turning into a "rescue dog" hijack.
Plus, given the passing of both tabs' and cool-chick's dogs a couple weeks ago, maybe we should honor them with a thread about rescue dogs. (I think they were both from the pound).
So, please post your rescue dog's pics and stories!
We got our guy Chance 3 years ago, he's now 10 or 11 years old. He's a purebred beagle from
www.beaglepaws.com.
In certain areas in Newfoundland, they breed beagles just for hunting. At the end of rabbit season, many owners shoot the old ones or leave them tied to trees in the woods. Real classy.
Chance was found wandering around Saint John's, Newfoundland on New Year's Day 2002. He weighed 18lbs, and had frostbite and pressure sores from being stored in either a small cage or box.
He's an old dude, so he's been a bit spendy... much of it dealing with skin damage from frostbite. But he's a happy feller, and knows he has it good now. All he wants in the world is for you to PET HIS HEAD, and maybe a good book to chew on.
He's old, he stinks and he eats his own crap. He's my best bud
