I was very lucky when we bought our house.

-I knew the selling agent, and was comfortable using him as a buying agent. That saved us $$ and made the process easier
-My father in law is a lawyer, and hand-held us through the process. Helped avoid potential obstacles and shady dealings
-We both loved the house enough to make the hassle and heartache worthwhile.

So buying the house was easy. Now, renovations... that's another story!
