Use the sandpaper in cars!! the only thing you will do is to scratch the slide (ask me how do I know) ... good files (and patience) is the answer.

Charles is spot on, cycle a few hundred rounds and see what do you like (my favorite is a 155 grain bullet -LWCS- at supersonic speed), I usually use grease pencils and 'score' all the touching surfaces to see any abnormal wear.
