I unfortunately fly quite a bit (the thrill has been gone for a long time).
In addition to the other fine points raised, a couple of things:
When you fly Saudi Air, every passengers hand carried luggage is hand searched as you board the plane on the jet way. Tables are set up, sufficient staff are in place and the whole thing goes smoothly. I have no issue. I think it should be done on domestic flights as well.
Limit the number of carry-on bags to one. Period.
Search/scan/open all checked baggage. Set the time limit for checked baggage to one hour before take-off.
I also do the eye scan service in/out of Heathrow. I would gladly submit to a background check if this technology was available domestically.
