A train can be bombed more easily than an airplane, but bombing a train wouldn't kill as many people as bombing an airplane (the train car where the bomb is placed plus some more from the derailment, versus the entire airplane).
(I know there have been some high death tolls in recent terrorist attacks on trains, but those have been attacks on multiple trains, the deaths per bomb are fairly modest.)
