I used to do some work soldering IC's with computers and all.. and I remember being told the optimum wattage for soldering computer components was about 30W. Those larger 50-70W irons can cause damage to sensitive components. If the solder doesn't want to melt with a 30W iron, find some finer, lower melting point solder.
