Ok, Pat and CC and others have been saying that Israel is only trying to steal land. Well now I am confused by the latest tactic.

Handovers to begin Wednesday
In Jerusalem, the Israeli army said it planned to begin handing over some captured positions on Wednesday and hoped to complete the withdrawal from Lebanon by next week.

Giving back the land does not seem to fit in the whole "stealing land" theme. So the question is, "IF Israel is the big bad aggressor and trying to steal more land, why would they start a withdrawal two days after the cease fire?" Surely they could draw this thing out indefinitely, no?

Waiting to see the latest anti-Israel/US gov spewage......
First, the Israeli's were well and truly thrashed by Hizbollah and couldn't steal much land in this attempted invasion and occupation, so that's the answer to the immediate question.

Second, the Israeli's are busily stealing Palestinian land in the West Bank via the illegal settlements, being built almost exclusively with money handed over fromt he US government with no strings attached (state governments here would love such an arrangement), and the construction of the security wall, all on Palestinian land, and itself being constructed almost exclusively with US government provided funds.

Last, Israel has destroyed much of the infrastructure in Gaza, cut off water supplies which they've craftily constructed to be the only water available in Gaza, bombing any attempts by Gazans to build their own. Israel is a terrorist state, without question.

So, the threft of land continues unabated, while you're focused on Lebanon.

Good work.
