BBS wheels on a 1987 944T....

Hi,

I recently purchased a 1987 944T with 19,000 original miles. It's pretty close to showroom condition and I'm considering selling it at some point, as I don't really feel comfortable driving it.

My question is about the BBS "basket weave" wheels that came with the car. I don't really know much about these wheels, but I have seen them on a fair number of 944's over the years. I don't think they were a factory option, but I really don't know. In talking to a friend he said that they were very light for the time and therefore a lot of owners purchased them as replacements for whatever they got from the factory.

If I were to keep this car though I would definitely replace them as they aren't really to my taste, although I think they look better on this color car than on most. I'd really like a set of Fuchs like those that were an option on the '86 944T's, but I believe those are simply not available for "late-offset" (post-1986) cars. I'd be interested in opinions of what the market might be for these with the 4 almost-new Toyo Proxes as I would be upgrading to 17" wheels if I go that route.

TIA for any and all info. (I'll try and post a pic of the car with the BBS wheels so you all can see what I'm talking about!)
