Hydraulic chain tensioner question

Hi!

While removing my engine for a second (unplanned) time, I noticed that there seems to be some oil leaking around the chain tensioner covers. I know what happens when things fail in there, so we don't really need to go there. I did not think to take pictures of the area, but can if needed. Could the gaskets just be leaking? What about the lines that feed the tensioners? Is it an easy task to replace the tensioners? Yikes, I see that tensioners cost $231.00. Man, I really can't afford this right now!!!! But, I guess if they fail, I will have to spend a lot more than that.

Thanks!!

Dave
