Yes, and high altitude, but Russian/Soviet missles put an end to that when Gary Powers went down.
The XB-70 rode it's own shockwave, and the ends of the wings bent down because it just didn't need all that lift going that fast.
When my brother an I were kids our dad purchased for my brother an SR-71, and for myself the XB-70 plastic models. We had them hanging from the ceiling once we put them together, but when our dad decided to join a pillow fight we were having the both planes fell to their final demise. That's why we had the "must stay on your knees" rule dad!
