Awesome car!!
I drove one before I eventually decided to add a 2000 996 to my Porsche fleet. The Boxster is a great car! It is a true Porsche in every sense. I didn't end up buying it simply because I felt a little claustrophobic in the tight cabin. The 996 feels more voluminous inside (which it is).
jackb911, I've got to think there was something not right about your 2000 996's suspension. Either that or it was a C4? The reason I say this is because I have a 2000 996 C2 and it feels very tight and Porsche 911-like. In no way does my 996 feel like a sporty Lexus. One of the reasons I bought the 996 over the Boxster was because I felt that the car's weight distribution made it feel so similar to my old '84 911 (although more refined, of course). Plenty of Porsche "feel" in my 996.
