I think people freak out by the simple fact that these cars now have yet another fuel line, with the install of a seperate heater. There are *ALOT* of safety mechanisms in place to lower the risk of fire. The *ONLY* downside to not having stock heat is that if, during a warm morning, you need defrost, you will not have it. The heater only turns on when cold outside.
Not sure how "cold" cold is but I believe its fall temps.
Just maintence.
