This season has been dismal for them. I'm a lifelong fan (grew up in Boston) but between the loss of Theo Epstein, Johnny Damon and more recently Bronson Arroyo I sorta' figured they were in trouble.
Schilling is good, but one has to wonder how many good seasons he has left in him. Wakefield is a workhorse but likewise getting up there in years. Beckett is a dud. Pappelbon is good, but in classic Sox fashion, you can expect they'll trade him away stupidly. Their pitching rotation just isn't there and in this day and age where power hitters are dime-a-dozen, they need some. Pitching wins games.
Well. . . "just wait 'til next year". My favorite teams from here on out are going to be the Dodgers and whoever beats the Yankees.
