I drove by this last thursday or friday after work to peruse the "hardware" in the parking lot at Mind Over Motorsports... (It's near where I work, on my way home).. I just like to see the variety of cars and where all the people with loads of expendable income spend it (La Jolla is 2 miles away). I saw the black car and its trailer. Couple of pretty nice Italian cars on the lift in the shop too.
I'd calm down on the "conspiracy theories"... as a San Diego "newbie" I've noticed that car theft is at one of the highest rate in the (#9) nation. Basically, if it isn't bolted down with 3/4" anchor chain, you can say bye bye. I had dropped by the shop several months ago to move some parts for a 914club member, and apparently, some of his stuff had been swiped from the shop enclosed trailer in the same yard not long before. Restitution was kindly made up to him from what I hear. The yard is at the "dead end" of an industrial park, and can't be seen from the street.. pretty ideal for someone to take his time and steal stuff...
It's a kick in the teeth I'm sure... that sinking feeling when you realize you've been ripped off really sucks..
My particular town in San Diego county apparenty has the highest rate in the county... Here are the cars stolen:
CALIFORNIA’S TOP 10
STOLEN VEHICLES 2005
1 1989 Toyota Camry
2 1991 Honda Accord
3 1995 Honda Civic
4 1988 Toyota Pickup
5 1991 Nissan Sentra
6 1990 Acura Integra
7 1993 Saturn SL
8 1987 Toyota Corolla
9 1992 Chevy Full Size C/K 1500
10 2000 Ford Mustang
Fortunately I own 3/4" anchor chain since 2 of the 10 vehicles on the list I own...
Good Luck
