That's not completely correct.
You want .004"-.006" per inch of bore. 94 mm = 3.7". You want .015 - .020 measured about an inch down from the TOP of the cylinder. The cylinder is tapered and the top is the smallets. Use an upside down piston to push the ring in square to the bore.
If it's tight, you can use a regular file to file the end gap. Do you best to file them so that they end up parallel to each other.
